From The Black Swan Novice Tournament

Black Swan Taekwondo Inc. hosted its 1st Novice Championships on the Saturday 15th March, which saw a lot of new, fresh and enthusiastic Taekwondo practitioner take the opportunity to try their hand at Competition Sparring, and by judging from what we saw at the competition there is a lot of talented up and coming fighters coming through the ranks.

It was a great experience for a lot of students as well as spectators and parents to see what Taekwondo Sparring is all about, with one ring in use, manned by fully experienced state referees all the time. The electronic scoring displayed every point that was been scored which made it a very enjoyable day.

The Championships were open to all Taekwondo School, regardless of which style or club, following the WTF rules of competition. It was good to see more than 100 eager and keen TKD practitioners come from as far as Albany and Dunsbrough, as well as many local clubs come together in the spirit of sportmanship and competition

Well done to Black Swan Taekwondo Inc for conducting such an event and developing the novice taekwondo competitors in our State.

Friday 14th March, we conducted a sparring class (kick-out) in preparation for both the Singapore Open on the 21st - 23rd March and the World Junior Selection on the 5th April at one of our centres in which some of our members will be competiting in.

Members from our centres that were not competiting in the Black Swan Novice Championships on the 15th were invited to come along to have a bit of a bash around and get in some last minute practice before the two big events.

More Lessons Learnt From Hanshi Ceberano's Seminar

After a week of hard one on one training with Hanshi Ceberano, the Academy once again held a seminar on the 8th March with it's black belt and this time inviting the red belts, along with other Instructors and black belts from various Martial Arts club to have the opportunity to attend and learn.

It was a good turn out where politics and egos were left outside the doors and everyone went away wanting more of which our centres will be providing.

More seminars are planned for Broome and Albany in the near future. Photos from the seminar will be posted as soon as they become available.

Hanshi Tino Ceberano Coming to Perth!

In keeping the development of the Academy in mind, Mr Rawlins and Senior Instructor, Cameron Hubbard trained with leading Martial Art expert Hanshi Tino Ceberano, who is regarded by many as the father of Australia Karate.

The week of private one on one training with Hanshi Ceberano opened and broaden the minds of both Mr Rawlins and Cameron, they went through intensive training that covered hand drills as well as weapons and locking technique.

Cameron making the extra effort to travel from Dunsbrough to get first hand knowledge from Hanshi Ceberano, this is only the first step and direction the centre is taking towards their 'Mixed Martial Arts Approach' and when everything is ready will implement it into the academy's curriculum.

On 8th March, all Martial Art practitioners regardless of the style they belong to, will have the opportunity to train with Hanshi Ceberano when he conducts a seminar at the Alexander Heights Community Centre on weapons which will include blocks, attacks and disarming.

We will be opening up this seminar to ALL STYLES of Martial Arts regardless of the club or affiliation you belong to. All we ask is that you put all the politics, egos and pride aside and come along to this fantastic seminar which will be conducted by one of the best martial arts exponent in Australia.

For more information on times and availability please ring 0410 695 183.
