Grading Results
Congratulations to all that pass their gradings and to those that failed remember this is a test of your character, to see if you have what it takes to be a good Taekwondo practioner. Train harder and you will make the grade next time.
Well done also to Abubakar Ibreheen on achieving his 1st Dan Black Belt.

(Mr. Rawlins with Abubakar)
And Mohammed Rihan Hoglin for passing his 2nd, in what Mr Rawlins describes as the best 2nd Dan Grading that he has had the honour to grade - Those that did not witness it, missed out on a almost flawless grading.

Great Southern Taekwondo Challenge

(Dennis Rawlins doing a flying sidekick over 6 boxes)
The Albany branch of the Charles Rawlins Taekwondo in conjunction with Black Swan Taekwondo Inc.ran it's first Great Southern Taekwondo Challenge on the 28th July. This was the first time that the town of Albany had seen an event such as this for at least 5 years, and it was meet with wonderful and fantastic comments from the locals and the existing Martial Art clubs in the town.
These Championships were different in quite a few ways,in such that every Martial Art club in the surrounding areas as well as Perth were invited to compete, in a friendly atmosphere under WTF full contact rules, regardless of what style or association you belong to.
This was a win- win situation as all styles of Martial Art competed (karate, freestyle and taekwondo) and the overall winners were the spectators and Martial Arts.

(The strong support between martial arts is shown in this tournament)
The event consist of three components the 1st was the (WTF) full contact sparring, the 2nd was the flying side kick and the 3rd was the Poomsae (WTF Form). It was a day of excitement, entertaining and fun for all (athelete, coaches and spectators).
The whole tournament was run in a relax and friendly atmosphere and thanks must go to Bill Miller and Bruce McCarthy from Great Southern Martial Art Academy and Mark and Kahleisha Burridge from Dragon Martial Art for participation in this event.
Thanks also to our other branches that made the trip to support our country club (Rockingham, Beechboro, Duncraig) as well as Sharon Jones, Chris Edwards and David Darling, and the many volunteers and helpers that made these Championships a great success.
Well done to Kristy, Lufti, Paul and all the committee members of the Albany Branch.
